Guardian Glass is seeking you to become our next Mechanical Engineer!
The Mechanical Engineering role leads engineering projects related to electrical and/or mechanical engineering efforts in the Guardian IG facility in Sun Prairie, WI. The focus of the Mechanical Engineer is to add value through improving processes in the production of insulated glass window units. This position offers numerous opportunities for career advancement, with potential movement into engineering management, product or process design, R&D, operations management, or plant management.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes
Reinforcing Guardian’s company culture in daily interactions and decision making.
Oversees and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.
Applies engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes.
Designs products or systems, such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
Supports engineering team in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
Support design and implementation of custom punches, dies, and molding for manufacturing and product development
Analyze processes to identify improvement opportunities, quantify financial return on investment, and manage project implementation
Support maintenance team with root cause analysis, corrective action, design and development for complex or capital-intensive solutions to reliability issues
Manage mechanical design, fabrication, and assembly of custom components including, but not limited to, material handling jigs and fixtures, fixtures to improve employee safety, layout adjustments
Manage facility and product drawings and controlled documents
What You Will Need?
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software
Strong project management and task management skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to treat production team as your customer
Self-starter and self-direction is critical to this role
