The new furnace cost about $30 million and over 200 laborers and trades people worked on the job.
In its expected 12 year, 24 hour a day, 365 days a year operation it will produce a ribbon of glass almost 30,000 miles long. The production capacity is 600 tons of glass per day. It can make five different colors plus reflective glass, and includes a state of the art cutting system. Chief Executive Officer Mike McCarney was delighted with the effective working partnership at the plant. “Zeledyne will continue to provide automotive glass to Ford Motor Company, and to produce Carlite® product replacement glass. We are so proud of the high quality Versalux® architectural glass that is used in buildings world-wide.”
