The first flat glass plant to come to Yemen is expected to open by 2008, said Naji Daen, the Yemeni businessman who had the idea to open the plant.

He hopes that the glass plant will help to support the development process in Yemen, and reinforce the country’s national industries, as well as create new jobs for Yemenis.

The plant, expected to cost $40 million, will be created with the great help of the German company JSJ, which is specialized in the field of flat glass consultation. “The role of JSJ is to analyze the prices offered by the companies which are to implement the construction of the plant. It will also make recommendations and make contracts with the executive companies as well as supervise the quality of the performance,” said Mahmoud Daen, the commercial director of the project.
