In October, Solutia Inc.'s Wear-Dated® carpet fiber will continue its participation in a Karastan initiative showing consumers how high-quality design can play a role in their homes' décor even at the very bottom level—the floor.

Titled “Decorating from the Floor Up,” it includes consumer events in major U.S. markets. The next “Decorating from the Floor Up” event will be held at the Phoenix Design Center in Scottsdale, Arizona, on October 6, 2007.

Sponsored by Karastan and Wear-Dated and hosted by Thom Filicia, an interior designer best known for his role as interior design specialist on Bravo's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and The Style Network's Dress My Nest, these live, interactive workshops show consumers that carpet can be just as modern, attractive and aesthetically appealing as alternative floorings. Using a mix of design elements, including paint, flooring, furniture and window treatments, Filicia will create a complete interior environment. Each stage of the process will be explained through a multimedia presentation of the final outcome.

Tickets are available at www.karastan.com or at Baker Brothers stores. Ticket prices are $20 for general admission or $75 for general admission and a meet-and-greet reception with Filicia. All proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists. At each event, Filicia will offer consumers the wisdom and talent he has garnered as a successful designer for the past ten years.

“Wear-Dated considers this a wonderful opportunity, not only to reach out to design-savvy consumers, but to benefit a very worthy organization,” said Marianne Cone, marketing director, Wear-Dated carpet fiber. “We know that feet are the first to get a feel for a room, so the idea of designing ‘from the floor up' really resonates with our brand. And our consumers will be thrilled to have the opportunity to meet Thom Filicia, whose charm and talent appeal to a wide audience.”

The first two “Decorating from the Floor Up” events took place in May in Chicago and Boston and are described in more detail in Come Decorate From the Floor Up With Thom Filicia in Boston and Time For Decorating From The Floor Up on http://FlooringTheConsumer.blogspot.com.
