The standard contains specifications for the manufacture of wood stile and rail doors in commercial interior applications and establishes quality levels for its grades, finishes and construction.It also promotes the use of architectural stile and rail doors in public and private buildings, fostering high quality standards for those who manufacture, specify or use them. General requirements for construction, dimensions, acceptable materials and classifications are outlined in the standard.
In the course of its approval cycle I.S. 6A has been reviewed not only by the industry but also by a host of other parties, including the general public, designers, architects and specifiers.
"A standard with ANSI approval is recognized in the marketplace, and contributes to the manufacture of high-quality fenestration products," said Alan J. Campbell, CAE and president of the WDMA. He added that WDMA's ultimate goal is to have nationally and internationally recognized and accredited standards for the window, door and skylight industry.
WDMA door standard gains ANSI approval
The Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) received approval on I.S. 6A, the industry standard for architectural stile and rail doors, from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
