Vitro Architectural Glass (formerly PPG Glass) has launched an online guide to help architects understand how their projects can earn LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credits when they use products by Vitro Glass.

Portal helps architects find LEED credits opportunities using Vitro Glass products.

Located at vitroglazings.com, the guide presents an overview of the LEED rating system and features a series of navigational icons, each corresponding to a different LEED category with detailed information about how to pursue individual LEED credits using Vitro Glass. In the Indoor Environmental Quality (EQ) category, for instance, the guide explains how Vitro Glass products such as Solarban® and Sungate® low-emissivity (low-e) glasses may be used to apply for LEED credit for performance criteria such as thermal comfort, daylight, quality views and acoustical performance.

There also are recommendations for achieving LEED credit in five additional categories, including Integrative Process (IP), Sustainable Sites (SS), Energy and Atmosphere (EA), Materials and Resources (MR) and Innovation (IA).

Glenn T. Miner, director of construction, Vitro Architectural Glass, said the guide is clear and concise. “Navigational icons, short blocks of text and links to descriptions and data sheets for recommended products enable architects and specifiers to research the data they need quickly,” he explained. “There also is valuable information about our Cradle to Cradle Certified™ glass products, a Material Ingredients List, a Recycled Content Letter and other documentation that verifies the sustainability of our products.”

Visitors to vitroglazings.com also can access the Vitro Glass CONSTRUCT tool, which enables users to construct configurations for up to nine different multi-pane insulating glass units (IGUs) to compare visible light transmittance (VLT), solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC), light-to-solar gain (LSG) ratio and other sustainability-related measures of glass performance.
