The Vidrio Andino project, a joint venture between the French Saint Gobain company and the Grupo Empresarial Antioqueno, with participation of the British Pilkington company, has received its environmental licensing for its glass factory, which will generate 350 jobs in the Soacha area when it enters into operation.

The project will require investments of US$100mil. Construction will begin in April 2003 and will take around 18 months. It will manufacture glass for the automobile and construction industries in Colombia and the Andean community. Both Saint Gobain and Pilkington are major international glass manufacturers.
