For passenger cars a mileage of 300,000 km without an overhaul represents extremely good value. As far as straight line edgers are concerned, a comparable satisfactory value is reached with approx. 300,000 metres of ground glass without larger repair works required.

So far, a value more than twice as high has been reached by Glasbau GmbH Torgau: Production manager Wilfried Geiler confirmed that his Bohle 6-spindle straight line edger SL6328A has already ground more than 700,000 metres since 2009.Until today the machine has reliably ground thousands of glass for aquariums with only a few replacement parts due to wear – and this number increases every day because the VetroCraft 6-spindle straight line edger keeps going and going and going.

The Bohle Sedimentor process water treatment system, which is also used in Torgau, is partially responsible for the long service life of the straight line edger. This machine cleans the process water and therefore makes sure that the degree of wear of the machinery and tools is drastically reduced.

Having used straight line edgers from Italian manufacturers in Torgau in the past, production manager Geiler decided to start using Bohle machines. He never regretted his decision.
