Request for Proposals: The Usable Glass Strength Coalition (UGSC) is seeking Research Proposals focused on gaining a deeper understanding of the relationship between Surface Structure, Surface Chemistry and the Strength of Glass.

Specifically, the UGSC is seeking proposals to answer the fundamental question: Where and how do flaws nucleate in glass? Opportunity: Proof of concept research and development anticipated.   Timeline:Proposals will be considered to support graduate level research.   Financials:Investment will be commensurate with project scope, but is anticipated to be in the range of $60,000-$110,000/year.   Details: The full RFP is available for download click here.Please download and read the entire RFP before submitting proposals.

Response Evaluation:
The UGSC will evaluate the Response using the following criteria:


  • Overall scientific and technical merit of the proposed approach

  • Responddent's capabilities and related experience

  • Realism of the prop[osed plan and cost estimates
