Two Directors representing employees at Saint-Gobain's Board of Directors

Effective from December 1, 2014, the Board of Directors of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain will have two new members, Alain Destrain and Pascal Laï, appointed under the French Law on Securing Employment of June 14, 2013.

Born in 1957, Alain Destrain has spent his entire career at the Vauxrot plant (Saint-Gobain Emballage).Very early on, he became involved in the union movement: first, in the Vauxrot plant, then with local and national union bodies as Secretary in charge of union affairs for the Aisne Regional Union for three years, and also as a Member of the Federal Bureau of Glass and Ceramics since 1999. In 2002, he was put in charge of collective bargaining for the Mechanical Glass Branch by the FNTVC (National federation of glass and ceramics workers).

Active in representative bodies at Saint-Gobain Emballage and in the Saint-Gobain Group, he has been a Union Representative and then a full member of the Saint-Gobain Emballage Works Council, Central Union Delegate Verallia, Saint-Gobain Group Council Secretary, Member of the Convention for European Social Dialogue and a Member of the Select Committee. In 2013, as part of the recognition of union activity, he completed a course leading to a qualification at Science Po Paris.

Born in 1962, Pascal Laï joined the Group in 1986 at the Aniche plant (Saint-Gobain Sekurit) where he worked for 20 years on the production side of the business around the furnaces and then as a toolmaker. In the early 2000s, he became involved in union activities holding a series of mandates: full member of the Aniche Works Council, Union Representative and Employee Delegate and full member of the CHSCT (Health, Safety, and Working Conditions Committee).-- He is also a full member of the Saint-Gobain Sekurit France Works Council. In addition, he has held mandates as a full member of the Saint-Gobain Group Council, as a Group Coordinator since 2011, and as a full member of the Convention for European Social Dialogue.
