When it comes to fitting coloured windows into stone or brick walls, TruFit® expanding foam edge tape from Edgetech UK beats other methods, according to West Country Windows.

The traditional housing stock in Somerset has a variety of stone and brickwork which can mean uneven apertures with jagged edges.TruFit provides an effective thermal barrier for window and door installations; as it expands, the tape seals any spaces between the wall and the window frame. This minimises cold spots and offers an average of 23 percent less heat loss than traditional installation methods.

Managing Director Ken Ashplant at the Yeovil-based fabricator & installer has seen even more reasons to switch to TruFit: “There’s no need to scribe trim around windows and doors with TruFit.”

“Because stone and brick apertures have so many indentations, our installation teams would have to scribe a bead section to go with a particular contour if they were using silicone. But with TruFit, it’s just fit and forget. You get a perfect, straight line that’s really pleasing to the eye – it’s a real time saver.”

West Country Windows has also found that TruFit is the best installation method for coloured sashes.

“Trying to colour match silicone with coloured frames can be a bit hit and miss,” continues Ken. “And overspill from the silicone onto the frames can make a mess.”

West Country Windows has been manufacturing IGUs using Super Spacer® for twenty years, so were keen to try the Edgetech UK fitting method for its installation teams.

“I have a great interest in products that come to the marketplace that give added value to the installation with great benefits to our customers and at the same time can save on labour costs.

“TruFit makes a real difference – it’s a winner.”
