Switchable glass feels right at home

Switchable glass is making its way from high-end commercial and retail installations into our homes.    Above you can see images of a recent domestic installation.

A full height, switchable glass double glazed unit provides privacy for a first-floor window overlooking the rear garden. The glass is frosted when the owners want privacy, clear when they want a view, or to check if the kids are playing nicely!

Here at Intelligent Glass we've always believed that switchable glass and film would become commonplace in the home. And not just in windows either.

We have previously supplied our switchable film for applications in kitchens (for fridges, wine coolers and pantries); switchable glass for bathrooms (as shower cubicles and laminate glass walls); and entry doors (as a battery powered privacy vision panel that still lets in plenty of light).

Increasingly switchable glass is being specified in home improvements such as extensions, conservatories, orangeries and summer houses. We've even installed a partition between two rooms that is used as a giant projection screen for home entertainment!
