Stuart Chambers has been appointed Group Chief Executive following the appointment of Paolo Scaroni as Chief Executive of Enel, Italy's largest integrated utility group.

Paolo Scaroni remains on the Pilkington board as Deputy Chairman.

Paolo Scaroni said: "The past five years have been fantastic for me. I have learnt a lot and I have been particularly fortunate to have been working in such a pleasant environment with excellent colleagues.

We have achieved a great deal together, and I am sure Pilkington will achieve even more with the new management team, building on the efforts of the past five years.

Following this reorganisation of the Automotive OE businesses and the resultant elimination of Pilkington's internal geographic reporting structure, the position of president, Automotive Worldwide and president of Pilkington North America, will cease to exist. As a consequence, Warren Knowlton will leave the Group at the end of July.

Pat Zito assumes responsibility for Pilkington's Automotive OE business worldwide and joins the Pilkington Board. Managers responsible for the Group's Building Products and AGR businesses will report directly to Stuart Chambers.
