The German industry leader will supply Premier Solar Systems with OEM thin film plates and Crystalline cells, which Premier will then convert into Solar modules. These modules of Premier Solar are then incorporated into solar systems - for example solar power packs, solar water pumping systems, street lightning systems and home lighting systems - are marketed by Premier Solar Systems in India, Asia and Africa.
Both companies had already agreed on the details of the cooperation by the beginning of 2007; Premier Solar Systems commenced incorporating the ASI OEM thin-film plates from SCHOTT Solar in October. The special feature of these OEM modules from Germany: SCHOTT Solar is the only company able to supply such variable OEM modules in a form that allows Premier Solar Systems to incorporate these into its products in any way it desires.
Boost for the Indian solar sector
Solar technology is of enormous importance to India's economic development. The large amount of solar insolation on the sub-continent - experts speak of 2,300 to 3,200 hours of sun annually - offers a gigantic potential for production and sales of solar technology solutions. Shortly after a visit by Angela Merkel, the Federal Chancellor of Germany, the Indian solar industry sector has been given a major boost by the announcement of a strategic partnership between an Indian and a German company - the solar module manufacturer Premier Solar Systems (Hyderabad) has concluded a supply agreement covering the next four years with SCHOTT Solar GmbH of Alzenau, Germany.
