Stevanato Group plans to double the size of its plant in Monterrey, Mexico and expanding the EZ-fill sterile vial and cartridge department at its production facility in Piombino Dese (Padua), Itlay.

Company president Cav. Sergio Stevanato remarked, “Organic growth is the basis of every solid industrial company. That’s why, in keeping with our business plan, we have decided to begin doubling the plant in Mexico. The investment plan will initially open with the amount of 4.5 million Euros, which is expected to double early in 2012, and will reach 30 million by the time the plant has been completed.”

The Monterrey plant is situated on a 40,000-m2 lot, of which 20,000-m2 will be covered upon completion of the project. It will employ 250 people and will be capable of supplying enough glass containers, ampoules, vials and cartridges for pharmaceutical use to satisfy North American market demand, as well as South and Central American markets, according to the company. The company will invest four million euro upfront in order to initiate the second phase of the project, which is dedicated to the production of sterile vials and cartridges.

EZ-fill is the brand name under which Stevanato Group produces pre-sterilized ready-to-fill glass containers for pharmaceutical companies. EZ-fill was initially dedicated to the production of sterile syringes but now includes vials and cartridges. This investment will allow the company to have production volumes of 40 million containers per year.
