In July 2015, Steklarna Hrastnik passed the fourth social system audit for Sainsbury’s, a chain of supermarkets, according to the principles of SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit or social audit).

The successful audit further confirms that Steklarna Hrastnik is an excellent, reliable supplier of high-quality tableware, packaging and opal glass products.As part of this year’s audit, Bureau Veritas, a leading global company in testing, inspection and certification services, examined employees’ social security, safety at work, fire safety, working conditions, salary payment, working hours and environmental care.What is more, conversations with 30 randomly selected production workers were carried out. The majority of these workers expressed their satisfaction with the management of Steklarna Hrastnik by Andrej Božič, General Manager.

The final report stressed four positive practices of Steklarna Hrastnik:

a)    activities within the Family-Friendly Company Certificate;

b)    possibility of choosing between five different lunch menus and reimbursing employees for lunch if the money intended for the preparation of meals is not spent;

c)    incentives for production workers at the end of the month if no worker is injured.

d)    incentives for production workers in case of successful production and sales.

“Since Steklarna Hrastnik follows a vision of glass production development in an innovative and safe environment, we are very pleased that our efforts have been recognised by external evaluators,” said Andrej Božič, General Manager of Steklarna Hrastnik.
