Entries are being accepted for the Solutia International Design Awards, a global competition that pays tribute to architects and designers who have used laminated glass liberally in their design. The recognition program, now in its fifth year, will recognize projects that demonstrate innovative use of any of Solutias architectural glazing products, which include Vanceva, Saflex and KeepSafe brand families.
Architects, designers, laminator, glazing contractors and other industry professionals are invited to submit projects for this recognition program. Winners will receive an original artwork by a recognized artist.
The process to nominate a project is simple. Nominations, consisting only of photography and brief background information on qualified architectural projects, are being accepted until March 1, 2003. Work must have been completed on the project in calendar year 2002. Nominated projects will be judged by leading professionals in the architectural/design community and Solutia.
Winners of the 2002 Solutia Design Awards competition spanned the globe. They included Santiago Calatrava for the Milwaukee Art Museum; Jim Doyle for the Olympic Cauldron (Salt Lake); Brunete Fraccaroli for The Garage (exhibition work in Brazil); Christophe Carpente and Christian La Croix for Christian La Croix retail shops (Japan) and the Buchan Group for the Flemington Race Course.
Solutia International Design Awards Recognize Innovative Glass Design
Architects and interior designers from around the world will again be recognized for their inventive use of laminated glazing for aesthetics, safety, security and/or noise reduction purposes.
