Dr. Robert E. Fishman to lead AREVA's Global Solar Business Unit headquartered in Mountain View, Calif. Mountain View, CA—April 5, 2010—AREVA announced today that its Global Solar Business Unit will be called AREVA Solar and will be headquartered in Mountain View, California.
Dr. Robert E. Fishman will serve as chief executive officer.
"We expect the global market for concentrated solar power plants to reach 20 gigawatts by 2020, and for AREVA Solar to be the global leader," said Dr. Fishman. "AREVA Solar combines proven, commercially-available technology and an experienced management team with AREVA's global market reach and energy expertise."
Dr. Fishman is a 30-year veteran of the power industry and formerly served as president, chief executive officer and chairman of the solar thermal start-up Ausra, Inc.
AREVA recently acquired Ausra, Inc. to lead its new Global Solar Business Unit, AREVA Solar.
