Solaglas Windowcare is boosting its national profile and reputation with the news that the company has been shortlisted for a major business award.

The leading glass, frame, door and conservatory repair and replacement specialist is a finalist in the British Insurance Awards – dubbed the Oscars of the UK insurance industry – for the innovative use of mobile technology by its engineers that is making significant savings and improving customer satisfaction.

Management and staff at the company will journey to London to attend a glittering black-tie gala dinner and awards ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall in London on July 9.

The British Insurance Awards recognise excellence and the importance of improving standards right across the industry.

Solaglas Windowcare took steps to streamline its inspection process by replacing paper-based forms to inspect and survey damage to window, frames, doors, locks and conservatories. Each of its national team of 140 engineers is now equipped with handheld computers (PDAs) to input information from an inspection. This accurate information is then relayed digitally to the company’s manufacturing base, speeding up the entire process and improving customer satisfaction by reducing the incidents of errors.

Ian Davy, managing director at Solaglas Windowcare, which has its headquarters at Hellaby near Rotherham said: “The British Insurance Awards highlights the best of the insurance industry and have increasingly come to represent the gold standard for service and quality excellence.

“We are delighted that the judges have recognised that we have a passion for finding new ways to meet and exceed the needs of our clients and their customers. If this means investing in the latest technologies, or adapting existing systems to meet our specific needs, then we are committed to this route.”

Solaglas Windowcare employs some 400 people and is an integral part of global giant Saint-Gobain’s UK operation. The company recently announced its intention to grow the business and last month launched a new identity in a move to associate itself closer with its French parent.

The company provides a 24/7 nationwide emergency service, specialising in domestic and commercial glass and frame repair & replacement, locks, garage doors and conservatories, controlled through its UK based call management centre in Hellaby.
