Glass specialist installer and repairer Solaglas Windowcare has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Chris Furnell as its first head of information technology and Richard Cocks to run its glazing operation in the south-east and west.

Furnell joins the Saint-Gobain Glass-owned company to manage all aspects of IT and provide leadership in delivering technical services. He was previously IT systems support manager with Synseal, a major supplier of uPVC extrusions and conservatory roofing systems.

As commercial branch manager Cocks will manage a team of glaziers and technicians to provide emergency services and deliver glazing projects from conception to completion, operating out of Portsmouth.

On the new appointments, managing director Ian Davy said: “I am delighted that Chris has joined us at this key time in the firm’s growth. He is an excellent IT professional with a track record in the development of technology infrastructures that will underpin our business.

“Richard’s focus is on growing our commercial business in the southern region by increasing the volume of glazing replacement work, securing new contracts and building our overall client base. He will also leverage our powerful parentage and relationships within Saint-Gobain Glass Solutions to capture and retain more business.”

Solaglas Windowcare provides window and frame installation and repair nationwide. The company is an integral part of global giant Saint-Gobain’s UK operation and recently launched a new identity in a move to associate itself closer to its French parent. The company operates from its manufacturing base in South Yorkshire. It employs 400 staff and in 2006 its turnover was £23.5m.
