After one year of research and tests in the factory, S.I.G.MA has developed a new geometry tube to reduce thermal shock and above all to improve the homogeneity of glass.

The new concept tube is grooved along the length to reduce the thickness and incorporates specially configured holes which are created in the casting process, thus avoiding stress normally associated with drilled holes. The first tests made in Italy and abroad in different glass factories show excellent results both for solving the thermal shock problems and for lowering the difference in temperature between the glass inside and outside the tube.

Transferring more heat to the inside of the tube results in a more homogeneous temperature of the gob and consequently in a higher glass production efficiency of the forming machine.
