Sefar and LuP (Laser u. Picture GmbH) have formed a partnership to launch a novel laser-based direct exposure system for screen printing stencils. The aim of the partnership is to develop and market a direct exposure system for screen printing stencils, based on laser technology.

LDS is targeted at printers of optical discs and similar small-format applications like label printing, and printing onto solid objects. Sefar’s prepress, mesh (SEFAR PCF) and screen printing expertise plus LuP’s laser exposure know-how will mean that customers benefit from a comprehensive, coordinated solution package that covers the entire range of process steps from when the customer’s data arrives, to the final printed product.

The exposure system will be marketed as SEFAR LDS, starting in the 2nd quarter of 2006.

SEFAR LDS customers will benefit from :
• Optimal process coordination across the board, from prepress to actual printing
• High productivity, with faster and less expensive prepress, exposure and printing processes
• High-quality printing, with resolution set to increase from 1200 dpi to 2400 dpi during 2006
• Reliable, stable processes

With Sefar’s industrially pre-coated PCF fabric established in the marketplace, SEFAR LDS marks a further step for simplifying the prepress aspects of screen printing. It will speed-up and professionalise the process, while reducing overall costs.
