On the 10th of October, Sedak bought a stake in the glass specialist Sunglass Industry s.r.l.

On the 10th of October, Sedak (Gersthofen, Bayern) bought a stake in the glass specialist Sunglass Industry s.r.l. (Villafranca, Northern Italy). The technological market leader for large-format glass thereby further extends its competence advantage.

“Sunglass has developed innovative technologies for bent architectural glass. Together with sedak we are looking forward to bring this competence to the new maximum formats”, says Giuseppe Bergamin.

With its expertise in hot bending, the Italian company Sunglass Industry s.r.l., founded in 1984, is regarded as one of the market leaders for curved architectural glass. Its glass has been used in the construction of outstanding, unique, modern architecture such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the building of the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris.

The premium manufacturer sedak is the world market leader for large-format glass up to 3.51 x 20 metres and a specialist for so-called "cold bending”.

"These fields of expertise complement each other excellently. We have thereby rounded off our product portfolio perfectly, enabling us to extend our top position as a full-service supplier", the sedak Managing Director

“The merger allows us to extend our hot bending competence gradually to the large sedak sizes”, says Bernhard Veh.

Bernhard Veh was pleased to announce at the signing of the contract on the 8th of October at the sedak headquarters.

Sunglass will also profit from the deal because the company now has access to the preliminary production stages for oversize glass panes in sedak quality.
