SCHOTT Termofrost® Glass Doors Now Available with Transparent Edges / Suitable for New Installations and Retrofit Projects    SCHOTT delivers improved door systems for cooling cabinets, providing customers with an enhanced shopping experience.

The company has extended its range of doors for supermarket cooling cabinets by using their specialist knowledge to develop glass doors with virtually invisible frames. This is made possible by using transparent spacers for the double glazed doors. Both the hinged doors from the T.AGD 3 series and the sliding doors from the T.SDS 2 range offer the improved design. They are suitable for new refrigerated cabinets but importantly, can also be retrofitted to existing units.

The transparent design provides an unobstructed view, and this also allows for greater flexibility when it comes to displaying the goods in the cabinets. The customer, in turn, can quickly scan the display and find their desired product instantly.

By fitting cooling cabinets with doors, electricity consumption can be reduced considerably –using insulated glass lowers energy use by up to 65 percent. But often food retailers are concerned that doors restrict visibility of the goods on offer. "We have been working very hard on this issue for many years. We have managed to slim down our door frames gradually and are now able to offer a solution which is virtually invisible," says Jochen Diederichs, Product Manager at SCHOTT. "With conventional double glazing the frame hides the spacer and the gasket. However, with the new SCHOTT Termofrost® doors these spacers are completely transparent. We have been able to eliminate the lateral door frame entirely. This enhances visibility of the merchandise in a highly innovative way, comparable to single glazed doors", says Diederichs.
