It is the first application of the TTC 50 system in the UK and was installed by Schüco’s fabricator, White Brothers & Speed.
The contract, which also included the removal of asbestos cladding and the replacement of fascias, involved replacing the windows/curtain walling in the school’s dining room.
Rob Mills, Newport’s Education Maintenance Officer, comments: ‘I have used Schüco systems on other jobs and I’ve always been impressed by their quality. The introduction of the TTC 50 system means that even when budgets are tight, Schüco is easily affordable. I also like the high-level openers, which are on a camstay: they provide good ventilation without compromising security.’
The Schüco TTC 50 system offers a slimline 50 mm face-width and a typical frame 'U' value of 1.64 Wm2/K. It is able to accommodate buildings up to three storeys in height, which makes it deal for a wide variety of local authority, healthcare and commercial projects.
