 * Sales improve by 26% to 2.85 billion euros  * Profit from operations (EBIT) increases to 263 million euros  * Employees to take part in the company’s success by receiving bonus payments Following the year of the economic crisis 2008/2009, the technology group SCHOTT recorded a successful fiscal year 2009/2010 (ended September 30, 2010).

Thanks to an increase in demand, particularly in the Asian growth markets, and its own successful efforts, mainly those aimed at lowering spending, the company was able to exceed its sales and earnings targets quite significantly.

Sales revenue rose by 26% to today’s figure of 2.85 billion euros (previous year: 2.26 billion euros). All of the divisions also contributed towards this development. Profit from operations (EBIT) came in at 263 million euros (previous year: a loss of 22 million euros) and underscores how well the operational business has been developing. The number of employees remained nearly constant at 17,468 (previous year: 17,396).

“We relied on our power of innovation, broadly diversified product portfolio, leading position in the market in many fields and the effectiveness of our management instruments in a difficult environment. The result is really quite impressive. SCHOTT has emerged from the crisis as a stronger company all over the world,” said Prof. Udo Ungeheuer, Chairman of the Board of Management.

Thanks to its economic success, the company will be able to reward its employees for their outstanding performances and unique commitment at the end of the year. Our non-exempt employees in Germany will be receiving a Christmas bonus of 150 percent of a monthly salary. The company will also be rewarding its exempt employees and workforce outside of Germany to a similar extent.

SCHOTT will be presenting its annual financial statement 2009/2010 and providing an outlook on its current fiscal year at its annual results press conference that will be held in St. Gallen, Switzerland, on February 11, 2011.
