SCHOTT Announces 2012 Scholarship Award Winners

• Three children of SCHOTT employees awarded $4,000 per year for college.June 18, 2012 (Sweetwater, TN and Duryea, PA) – SCHOTT North America, Inc. today announced the recipients of the 2012 Scholarship Awards.

These scholarship opportunities are open to children of SCHOTT employees in their senior year of high school. The winners are provided with $4,000 each year for four years of study ($16,000 total).



This year, the winners are:



• Rachel Hudson, of Loudon, Tennessee, is the daughter of Joe and Sharon “Becky” Hudson. Becky is a Market Analyst at SCHOTT Gemtron in Sweetwater, and has been with the company since 2010.



• Frank Pallien, Jr., of Scranton, Pennsylvania, the son of Frank, Sr. and Darlene Pallien. Frank has been with SCHOTT in Duryea since 1982 as a Group Leader - Electronics



• Michael Vamos, of Mountaintop, Pennsylvania, is the son of Karen and George Vamos. George is a Principal Quality Engineer at SCHOTT in Duryea, with the company since 1989.



Winners were notified by mail earlier this month, and certificates of congratulations were presented to them at small celebrations in their respective SCHOTT locations.



“Education is one of the bedrock values of the SCHOTT group,” said Linda Mayer, President and CEO of SCHOTT North America, Inc. “I am very proud to reward these young people for their achievements, and to provide this assistance to our employees as their students pursue ever-higher educational goals.”



In order to apply for these scholarships, candidates must carry a minimum 2.5 GPA throughout high school, which they are then expected to maintain in college in order to continue to receive the award. Open to children of SCHOTT employees who have been employed for six months or more, eligible high school seniors must have applied as a full-time student at an accredited four-year college in the United States.



This is the second year SCHOTT Scholarships have been awarded.
