Samsung starts making generation seven LCD glass

Corning said it has started delivering generation seven TFT glass substrates to Samsung, the mighty Korean chaebol.

The sheets will be used for making displays for LCD TVs, notebooks and monitors, and Corning said Samsung is already churning panels out at a joint venture fab in Cheonan, Korea.This means bigger displays for sale in the future, with generation seven glass substrates measuring six feet by seven feet, with nearly three times the surface area of generation five substrates.Corning said it has started delivering generation seven TFT glass substrates to Samsung, the mighty Korean chaebol.
