This year's international Changing the Face architectural competition is set to take a huge step forward.

Unlike previous events, where the competition entries were purely theoretical, this year the winning entry will actually be built.    Run by DuPont, in cooperation with PKO Bank Polski, the Union of Polish Architects (SARP), the Polish Green Building Council and Architizer.com, Changing the Face is now in its seventh year and is more popular than ever.(Click here to download the Changing the Face information sheet.)Past events have seen iconic buildings in Bucharest, Prague, Zagreb, Athens and Moscow get a theoretical refresh, but this year the competition calls for innovative designs to revitalise one of Warsaw's most well-known landmarks, the ROTUNDA.Located at the junction of two major streets, it is a significant part of the city’s 20th century urban fabric.

The competition is seeking designs that offer a contemporary update to this major architectural landmark using modern construction, glazing and materials solutions for both the interior and exterior of the building. Any professional architect with sufficient knowledge and experience as well as necessary technical potential and resources to handle the design task and ensure the proper performance of the post-contest contract, can enter the competition.

The competition will take place over five months, with the following deadlines:

  • Online registration by 15 July 2013

  • Project submission (Phase 1 – all participants) by 19 August 2013

  • Project submission (Phase II) by 7 November 2013
