Pilkington Optiwhite™ with a coating of Pilkington OptiView™ has been chosen to glaze the display cases in both the George W Bush Presidential Library and Museum in Dallas, Texas and the LB Johnson Library in Austin, Texas.The libraries contain millions of presidential records from the respective administrations, as well as presidential gifts and other artifacts related to the two men's lives and careers."right" width="280" height="210" alt="" src="/UserFiles/1(443).jpg" />More than 18,000 square feet of 6mm Pilkington Optiwhite™ with a Pilkington OptiView™ coating have been used for the display cases and interior partitions. This particular combination of glass and coating promises the public the clearest possible view of these important exhibits.
The glass for both projects was manufactured at Laurinburg, North Carolina and fabricated by Canadian company Prelco of Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec. Installation was by museum display specialists Design & Production Inc of Lorton, Virginia.
The George W Bush Library and Museum is part of the George W Bush Presidential Center which is located on the Southern Methodist University campus in Dallas, Texas. The Center was dedicated in April 2013 and the Library itself opened to the public in May. It is the 13th presidential library in the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) system and holds more than 70 million pages of textual materials, from National Security Council files to White House dinner menus.
The Lyndon B Johnson Library and Museum in Austin, Texas, houses 45 million pages of historical documents, 650,000 photos and 5,000 hours of recordings from President Johnson's political career. It was dedicated on May 22, 1971, but has more recently undergone a multi-million dollar redesign, which included the reglazing.
