PPG’s Glass Fabrication Facility in Ontario to Start Production Next Year

The facility measuring 80,000 sq ft will offer 20 permanent jobs in operations such as glass cutting, insulating glass unit production and distribution.

PPG Industries’ new facility is a replacement for the company’s another facility located in North York close to Toronto, where the company has operated for the past six decades.



Frank Caporiccio, who serves as General Manager of PPG Industries’ Flat Glass Trade Products in Canada, stated that the Barrie plant will improve the accessibility to the company’s customers and allow the company to operate in a more efficient way. The company is always findings ways to improve the value of its offerings to its customers, he added.



The Barrie facility will use a portion of the former Bemis production facility measuring 300,000 sq ft at 200 Fairview Road in Barrie. As per Caporiccio, installation of the machinery will start in November 2011 and the facility will commence operations next year January.



PPG Industries runs similar glass facilities in Calgary, Alberta, Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Halifax, Nova Scotia. The company also operates a warehouse center in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The company offers products to customers operating in the fields, including aftermarkets, construction markets, consumer products, transportation and industrial.
