PPG Total Service Solutions said it reached an agreement with Bio Reaction Industries to offer a pollution-cutting system to manufacturers.

PPG Total Service Solutions, a unit of PPG Industries Inc., will supply products and services related to the Greencell system, including project management, monitoring and support for the system, maintenance and environmental compliance testing.

Financial details of the arrangement were not disclosed.

The Greencell system is designed to reduce emissions of volatile organic compounds and odors generated by applying industrial coatings, according to PPG. It said the system can reduce those emissions by as much as 95 percent.

PPG Industries, of Pittsburgh, is a glass, chemicals and coatings company. It had sales of $8.1 billion last year. The company's PPG Total Service Solutions unit is based in Troy, Mich.

Bio Reaction Industries is based in Tualatin, Ore. The company's Greencell system uses naturally occurring microorganisms to convert volatile organic compounds into carbon dioxide and water, a process that cuts emissions of nitrous oxide and carbon monoxide caused by incinerating the pollutants.
