Pittsburgh Paints has unveiled Visions at a Glance(TM) CD-based software which allows homeowners, as well as painting contractors and architects, to preview paints and color schemes until they find the colors and combinations they like best.

The Visions at a Glance CD enables the software program user to apply paints electronically to digital images of their own projects or to a pre-existing digital library of home interiors and exteriors.

"The CD is easy to use for experienced computer users and beginners alike," said Scott Sinetar, general manger, PPG Architectural Finishes. "Architects and designers can simply take a digital image of the room or exterior they want to paint and upload it to their computer. Once the image is online, Visions at a Glance software allows the designer to select up to seven surface areas to paint, from large walls and siding surfaces to small, intricate areas such as shutters, stair rails and window trim."

These "painted" images can then be edited, saved or printed so that designers can see how a room will look "even before a brush ever touches a wall," he said.

Designers can use this software to create color presentations to help expedite their clients' color selection process, saving them time and money, and increasing overall customer satisfaction.

All 1,890 colors in The Voice of Color Design Collection are included in the Visions at a Glance CD, along with a selection of color schemes from Pittsburgh Paints' color stylists. Options include Whispers of White, Historic, Rugged tones and Elegant tones.

Also built into the Visions at a Glance CD are convenient job-estimating tools, product recommendations, a paint calculator, a paint problem-solver and a technique guide.
