MegaSeal tint bases combine a two-component, self-leveling epoxy coating with the infinite color capability of PPG's PerformaColor color system. The result is an attractive high-gloss, seamless, hygienic flooring surface that is extremely hard-wearing and durable.
Howard Combs, director of PPG High Performance Coatings, said the new MegaSeal tint bases not only expand the design options available for commercial and industrial flooring systems, but add to their functionality as well.
"Before introduction of these tint bases, the palette for industrial floors was limited mostly to gray and other nondescript colors," he said. "Now, thanks to the addition of these new MegaSeal tints, industrial floors can actually be used to enliven spaces in schools, hospitals, restaurants and other public places where high traffic, easy maintenance and good looks must co-exist.
"In non-public areas, such as plants and warehouses, MegaSeal tint bases can be used to color-code floors to identify high-caution areas or simply to aid the coordination of traffic and work flow," he added.
Other applications for MegaSeal tint bases include industrial "clean rooms," hangars, food-processing facilities, laboratories and production facilities.
MegaSeal coatings systems for floors include epoxies, urethanes and water-based products for use in virtually any industrial environment. Anti-slip products, self-leveling and resurfacing systems, primers, thin film systems and patching products are engineered to meet specific criteria for high- and low-temperature applications, chemical or abrasion resistance, cleanliness and other performance attributes.
MegaSeal tint bases come in 1-gallon and 5-gallon kits, and are available with both neutral and pastel bases. They are recommended for use only on properly prepared concrete, masonry or previously painted floors.
