Pilkington France has supplied more than 6,000 metres square of glass façades for a stunning renovation of the historic St Charles station in Marseilles.

The new 140 metre long Honorat Hall extends the station in the direction of the University and its glass walls serve to flood the older part of the station with light.

The façade contract was a success for the Project Business partnership between Pilkington France customer Viry, which made the façades, and Pilkington's German joint venture business Flachglass Wernberg, which made the huge 3x3 metre glass panels.

"The whole project went very smoothly," said Philippe Lisse, commercial director for Pilkington France.

"We have to congratulate Wernberg on their excellent management of production, quality and delivery issues, which allowed Viry to achieve their targets on completion and delivery of the finished glazing.

"It is worth noting that there were no flaws found in the glass on site, a rare and praiseworthy achievement."
