Pilkington: Second order for F-5E

Date: 18 January 2003
Source: Pilkington
A second order for F-5E windshields has been recieved by Pilkington Aerospace. The parts are built in Patumthanee in Thailand whilst the windshields are assembled in the Pilkington Aerospace Thailand facility, using components manufactured by the Garden Grove operation in California.

In order to make significant savings, this joint manufacturing concept has also been used for other products and has allowed Pilkington Aerospace to continue to compete in markets dominated by small low-cost manufacturers.Production of F-5E and F-5F products in Asia is an obvious match-up of capability and customer need because there are more F5 aircraft operated in Asia than in any other area. There are more than 300 aircraft currently in operation between Korea and Taiwan.
