The Tianjin automotive plant in China recorded three major milestones in less than two weeks in July. * On July 3rd, the plant passed the ISO14001 environmental audit;* On July 7th, Tianjin celebrated a full year with no lost time accidents, and* On July 14th, the operation achieved ISO/TS16949 accreditation for quality management systems. "Each event in itself is a great achievement," said plant manager Tim Bayliss.

"To get all three in such close succession is just tremendous.

"It is only two years since the Tianjin operation became integrated into the Pilkington Automotive business and we have made great strides in improving the business in so many aspects.
"I don't think the team realise the scale of what they have just achieved but other operations around the world which have worked to pass these milestones step by step over many months - or even years - will appreciate the significance of what has happened here.

"With these latest achievements we feel we are now truly part of the World Class Automotive operation."

Tianjin's success completes an important EHS hat-trick for the Automotive business in China - all three plants, Tianjin, Changchun and Guilin now have ISO14001 certification AND have worked a year with no lost time accidents.
