A new Norwegian hotel shaped like a vast glass sail has been built on the Romsdalsfjord in Molde. The 17-story Rica Seilet Hotel uses more than 4,500m² of Pilkington Suncool™ Classic Silver 1,2 and Pilkington Suncool™ HP Silver for the stunning glass facade which soars above the water.

Built close to the rocky shoreline, the hotel was designed by architect Kjell Kosberg to look like a huge silver sailing ship moored at the quayside. But being so close to the sea, it also had to be able to withstand high winds and seaspray.

The glass and aluminium facade was supplied by Pilkington Trondheim and was their largest project for 2002.
