Picvue Optoelectronics Technology, a subsidiary of Picvue Electronics, has scheduled igniting Taiwans first TFT LCD glass-smelting furnace this month.
If everything goes smoothly, the company will begin volume production and shipments of 0.7- to 1.1mm-thin glass substrates for Taiwanese TFT LCD and color filter (CF) producers by November.
If warranted by market conditions, the company also plans to begin operating a second TFT LCD glass-smelting furnace by the middle of next year.
Cornings TFT LCD glass melting and forming plant in the Tainan Science-Based Industrial Park (TSIP) will not be ready until the first quarter of next year.
