Yablonsky, speaking by phone from the company's operations in Homewood, said Phoenix Glazing is planning on adding 50 employees to its 18-member staff by the end of 2006 as a result of a $1.3 million expansion that will add new glass handling equipment and allow the company to expand its work space.
By the end of 2008, Yablonsky said Phoenix Glazing plans to add at least an additional 37 jobs. The three- year expansion would create a company five times the size of the current company based on employment figures.
Staff members of the Brackenridge-based Allegheny Valley Development Corp., which coordinates business development efforts in this region with the state, assisted in developing the grant and tax credit program for Phoenix Glazing.
Yablonsky said the government's decision to aid Phoenix Glazing came about after research conducted by his department's Business Retention & Expansion Program. The state program has been in existence since 1966 and works to help retain jobs and businesses that are already located in the Commonwealth.
Yablonsky said employees of the department's business retention program contact between 9,000 and 10,000 Pennsylvania companies per year to investigate their needs.

Phoenix Glazing Inc., a Homewood-based manufacturer of aluminum windows, doors and storefronts, received a tax credit and grant package worth $216,150 from state Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Yablonsky.
