Philip Lochner Named to Solutia Board of Directors

Solutia Inc. (NYSE: SOI) has elected Philip R. Lochner, Jr., to its board of directors. Lochner, 59, retired in 1998 as senior vice president and chief administrative officer of Time Warner Inc.

He serves on the boards of directors of the American Stock Exchange, Apria Healthcare Group Inc., GTech Holdings Inc., and Clarcor Inc.; as well as the board of advisors of Republic N.Y. Corp. In addition, Lochner serves as an adjunct faculty member of Columbia Law School, on the board of trustees of the Canterbury School and on the board of directors of the Investor Responsibility Research Center.

Prior to his position at Time Warner Inc., Lochner served as a commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (1990-1991); held the positions of vice president, general counsel and secretary during his employment with Time Incorporated (1978-1990); was an associate at the New York City law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore (1973-1978); and served as associate dean and assistant professor of law at the State University of New York Law School (1971-1973).
