Owens-Illinois official to discuss new plant, choice of Weld County at April 13 meeting

Kenneth Lovejoy of Owens-Illinois Inc., which will open a $119 million glass-bottle manufacturing plant in Windsor in January 2005, will speak next week at the annual meeting of the Greeley/ Weld Economic Development Action Partnership.The luncheon meeting is at 11:45 a.m.

April 13 at the Greeley Country Club, 4500 W. 10th St.

Lovejoy, vice president and manager of facilities engineering for Owens-Illinois, was head of the selection team that led to the company's decision to build the plant near Windsor. He will talk about the history of the company and the factors that led the company to Weld County.

Lovejoy, an Ohio native, graduated from the University of Toledo with an engineering degree in 1980. He has worked for Owens-Illinois in Atlanta, Syracuse and Chicago and was technical director of the company's European glass operation in Milano, Italy, from 1999-2002.
