Owens-Illinois Inc names Deborah Hockman PhD new vice president of EHS

Glass packaging maker Owens-Illinois Inc stated on 25 January, 2011 the appointment of Deborah Hockman PhD as vice president of global environment, health and safety (EHS) of the company, bringing more than 25 years of experience in environment, health, safety and technical management.

The company said Hockman, in the newly created position, will head global efforts to enhance its safety, environment compliance and health processes, standards and metrics. In addition she will serve as global safety programme leader, overseeing the worldwide efforts to create an accident -free workplace, which is one of the company´s sustainability initiatives.

Most recently, Hockman worked as professor at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill., where she created and launched a new interdisciplinary degree programme in business and science and also taught courses in business sustainability and chemistry.

Previously, Hockman was employed for than ten years at Waste Management as well as served for five years as vice president of EHS, analytical services and government relations at Nalco.
