A total of 1800 people had the opportunity to get an insight into the production of glass and observe the process of the making of glass bottles and jars.
Vetropack Moravia Glass with its more than 450 employees is one of the important employers in its region and the support of interesting projects in South Moravia has also become an established tradition for the glassworks. Therefore the Slovácký Rok Folklore Festival is, without dispute, one such project. It is not surprising that the famous Sunday Jízda králů (Ride of Kings), for example, regularly also rides up to the glassworks´ gate.
The history of the glassworks dates back to 1883 when new production in Kyjov expanded the successful glass empire of the Reich family. The Kyjov glassworks lasted through the period of the monarchy, the first Czechoslovak Republic, both world wars, the totalitarian regime and the velvet revolution. Its new chapter began twenty years´ ago on 1 November, 1991, with the merger of the companies Moravia Glass and Vetropack. This was one of the first privatisations after the velvet revolution. The name of the glassworks changed to VETROPACK MORAVIA GLASS, akciová společnost, and the company became part of the international Vetropack Group, a leading European container glass producer. Thanks to the strength of Vetropack there have been huge investments in the past two decades so the glassworks is one of the top European companies in terms of technology, is a leading container glass producer in the Czech Republic and a reliable employer.

The company VETROPACK MORAVIA GLASS organised an open day on Saturday, 13 August. The event was held as part of the Moravian Slovakian Year Festival Slovácký rok of which the glassworks is a traditional sponsor and on the occasion of celebrating the 20th anniversary of the glassworks´ incorporation into the Vetropack Group.
