Only Living and working protected from noise - The winning objects in the Saint Gobain Glass Noise Protection Challenge

These days quiet is precious, because there are sources of noise everywhere. The installation of soundproof glasses is both a meaningful and a practicable possibility to sustainably counteract a disturbance of the peace - as shown by the winning objects of the Saint Gobain Glass Noise Protection Challenge 2013. Alpha Rotex, Frankfurt: The triangular Alpha Rotex is on the western fringe of the Quartier Alpha.

With a height of 68 metres it is the highest building in the Quartier. The main tenant is DB Schenker AG whose employees can carry on their work without any disturbance from aircraft noise. This is made possible by about 7,000 m2 of the soundproof insulating glass SGG STADIP SILENCE from CLIMAplusSECURIT partner Wolff+Meier GmbH from Langgöns.

The Atrium, London: Not far from the centre of London, "The Atrium Residences" was completed in April. The glass tower on Park Road offers luxurious apartments and thus accommodation which is close to the city centre, exclusive and, above all, quiet. This is also made possible by about 611 m2 of the bowed glass SGG CONTOUR CLIMAPLUS from Döring Glas GmbH, Berlin. The panes of glass bowed with a radius of 7,050 mm, combine the fall prevention and solar protection functions of SGG SECURIT H and SGG PARSOL with the noise protection function of SGG STADIP SILENCE.
