The NGA Show 2002 - the largest North American glass industry event of the year - went out on a high note drawing 5,000 attendees to the George R.

Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. Held March 20-22, this year marks the end of The NGA Show as we know it; it will reemerge in 2003 as GlassBuild America: The Glass, Window & Door Expo.

An optimistic mood prevailed as The NGA Show 2002 welcomed visitors from 45 countries to the 3-day event. Nearly 300 exhibiting companies, occupying a total of 884 booths, displayed a wide variety of glass industry products, equipment, and services.

The event kicked off on March 20 with the Opening General Session where NGA presented two individual awards for outstanding service to the industry. The Maurice Petersen Lifetime Sales Achievement award was presented to Bob Long of Salem Distributing Company. The Glass Professional of the Year award was presented to Bob Lawrence of Glass Wholesalers. Peter Schutz, retired CEO of Porshe AG Worldwide, provided a lively and inspirational wrap-up to the Opening Session.

Concluding the first day's agenda was the Opening Cocktail Reception sponsored by Palmer MirroMastics, C.R. Laurence, and Glasstec 2002. Over 20 educational seminars covering architectural glass, auto glass and management/safety topics also rounded out this year's event.
