Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) fenestration applications are really beginning to gain traction in the United States and it will have a major impact on the glass and glazing industry. Will you be ready?
In the building envelope (aka facade), photovoltaics (PV) is a natural for fenestration applications; especially, thin-film modules replacing conventional glass with energy producing glass. The functionality of glass as a cost-effective building material is further enhanced by incorporating PV.
Any conventional glass application can be replaced with BIPV modules having the same structural and thermal characteristics. This type of application can reduce the building’s energy consumption down to net-zero which means the building can produce at least as much energy as it uses.
The four hour symposium will have an expanded agenda from the BIPV Seminar presented by the National Glass Association at GlassBuild last year in Atlanta, GA as well as have different speakers from the photovoltaics industry and building construction who will be allotted more time to cover topics in more detail.
This will be the fourth year the NGA has presented a photovoltaic seminar, with each year breaking the record attendance that was set the previous year.
