NFRC Approves New Solar Heat Gain Test Method, Technical Procedure for Rating Window Films

The National Fenestration Rating Council¹s (NFRC) Board of Directors voted to approve a new test method for obtaining solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) ratings as well as a new technical procedure for rating window films at the organization¹s Annual Meeting in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Tony Rygg, NFRC Chairman, characterized the approvals as an example of how NFRC is ready and willing to work with industry stakeholders to address the needs of the entire fenestration products industry."NFRC is committed to improving our existing rating procedures and to expanding the universe of products that manufacturers can bring to us for fair, accurate, and credible energy performance ratings," said Rygg. "We appreciate the effort made by window film manufacturers to work with us to develop technical procedures that will eventually allow them to rate and certify their film products through NFRC."
