When Robert J. Kerr, president of Guardian Glass Tinting, Inc. decided to change his website, what did he do? Instead of hiring a web designer who would charge a hefty $10,000 for his services, Kerr decided to do it himself.

Little did he realize that his creativity and innovation would win him a Gold Medal from Global Internet Directories for excellence in website design and presentation. Called the "Online Oscars," Judge Jim Eaton stated that the award was given for easy navigation, good use of codes, site maintenance integrity, design neatly laid out. "I enjoyed the simple, yet elegant entry page," Eaton said. "It's an excellent site for information and I enjoyed my visit."

To distinguish himself from the competition, Kerr chose to be completely different. Instead of showing a glass building, he got creative and used the silhouette of a beautiful woman.

"Perfection in Form and Function -- that says it all with this photo," said Kerr. That's not just the product we use, but that's my company."

Why use the silhouette of a female on the intro page? "Because nothing is more beautiful than the female form -- if the presentation is done right. It's an art form. The theme moves right along with form and function in architecture and the role we have in placing the correct film to address specific needs of the client -- solar control, safety and security film.

"Because SECURITY is on everyone's mind today, we wanted to redesign the website to show the client that we offer the best in Safety and Security Window Films and Anchoring Restraint Systems," Kerr continued. "We use a series of specially constructed films sold under the Armorcoat brand name. The film holds the glass intact upon violent impact forces, be it by natural causes or man-made devices. Also discussed -- the anchoring and wet glaze systems which holds the glass secure in its frame."
