Homeowners who want more energy-efficient windows can discover the advantages of Sungate 500 low-emissivity (low-E) glass with a new brochure from PPG Industries residential glass.

Introduced in 1984, Sungate 500 glass by PPG was one of the industry’s first commercial low-E glasses, so-named for its ability to transmit high levels of natural light while blocking the sun’s heat energy in the summer and trapping interior heat in the winter. Today, Sungate 500 glass remains one of the industry’s most effective and energy-efficient window glasses, transmitting 76 percent of the sun’s natural light while blocking 30 percent of its solar heat energy.

Windows made with Sungate 500 glass are well-suited to cold climates as well as warm because they trap interior heat 28 percent more effectively than windows made with ordinary clear glass. Sungate 500 glass helps to lower cooling bills in the summer and lower heating bills in the winter, while enabling homeowners to enjoy the comfort and health benefits of abundant natural light.
